ATONAL COLLECTIVE

Giovedì 6 ottobre 2016 ore 19, INTERZONE GALLERIA inaugura la nuova stagione espositiva 2016/2017 con la mostra fotografica ATONAL.


I corpi non sono un «pieno», uno spazio riempito (lo spazio è ovunque riempito): sono spazio aperto, lo spazio, cioè, propriamente spazioso più che spaziale, ciò che ancora si può chiamare  luogo. I corpi sono luoghi d’esistenza e non c’è esistenza senza luogo...”.


A T O N A L è la prima mostra italiana del gruppo A T O N A L Collective, composto da 6 fotografi di provenienza danese, norvegese, svedese, polacca, greca: Alexander ARNILD, Cato LEIN, Jannis TORDHEIM, David NEMAN, Igor PISUK, Lily ZOUMPOULI.


L'esposizione, a cura di Michele Corleone, mette in mostra 180 fotografie in bianconero e colore in stampa fine art digitale.


Nella fotografia collettiva di A T O N A L, affascina il senso di straniamento che la forma diaristica della loro ricerca di narrazione sviluppa in chi si immerge nelle immagini esposte.

Lo sguardo di A T O N A L dà voce a un diario poetico visivo, dove i soggetti sono intrisi di dolore, solitudine, sensualità, realtà quotidiana. Nelle immagini in mostra emerge un movimento che auto-riflette, senza prendere la distanza, un mondo non edulcorato, non tendente al bello, ma fatto di colpi brutali che creano reazioni, che suscitano frizione, attrazione/repulsione e senso d’intimità. È una narrazione che tende ad un approccio poetico aperto a differenti interpretazioni, “It's arrhythmic, non conceptual, its more like atonal music”,  afferma lo stesso Collettivo.

Lo sguardo dei singoli fotografi trova una coralità di visione e interpretazione del reale “circondante”: sguardo lacerante che si fa portavoce di quell’osservazione che attraversa il mondo denso e aperto dei corpi, in cui “tutti i corpi sono segni, così come tutti i segni sono corpi”. A questa visione non si sottraggono neppure le immagini di una natura apparentemente in equilibrio con se stessa: composte di colori più tenui e dove il paesaggio induce ad una contemplazione meditativa; in realtà la fotografia di ATONAL ci parla di una natura addomesticata, paradossalmente diventata tanto neutra da apparire ancora più violenta.


Non si può rimanere indifferenti davanti alle immagini che la mostra fotografica A T O N A L ci propone: non si è obbligati a scegliere da che parte stare, dentro o fuori o in equilibrio sulla sottile linea di separazione - lama affilata che divide due mondi, scuro e più oscuro - se lo si fa, lo si fa con la coscienza che lo sguardo di A T O N A L ci appartiene a tutti, comunque.

ATONAL Collective è stato fondato nel maggio 2014, i membri Atonal sono concentrati su progetti personali di fotografia documentaria, tra cui short stories, extended photo essays, e progetti a più strati. “...We find it interesting to mix our works together to find kind of fresh and new energy, to find other levels, connections, the act of surprise stimulates our creativity. As a collective, we support each other, looking for Competitions, grants, share ideas inspire ourselves...

CATO LEIN, was born all the way up in northern Norway, not far from the end of the Russian Tundra. He moved to Stockholm in the 80´s, where he discovered black and white photography. He soon realized that it was his passion. He has been working as a portrait photographer for many of the publishing houses and newspapers in Scandinavia. He usually takes portraits of authors and artists with a big size camera using polaroids and that makes a unique platform for his creations. Around 2006 his way of expressing changed into a more private and deep language. He exchanged the seriousness and perfection to a more distinct style and started making more ”ripped down to the bone” photographies. He works and lives in Stockholm. DAVID NEMAN, was born in Veberöd, Sweden 1986. As a teenager he started taking photographs of his friends and surroundings. After living in Lund and Sundsvall studying photography he moved to Malmö where he continued to work on his projects. In 2013 he did the project "Forever punks" in Russia, where for almost three years the sixth floor of an old factory in St. Petersburg was a home for twenty russian skaters. He had exhibitions with his pictures in both Sweden and Germany. 2014 he moved to Berlin where he currently live and work. www.davidneman.se

ALEXANDER ARNILD PEITERSEN, born in 1987. Living and working in the city of Copenhagen, Denmark. After a year of documentary and art photography at Fatamorgana, Copenhagen, spent three years in Sweden, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts Photography from the Photography and Film Department at the University of Gothenburg. In the fall of 2015 he finished with a Masters Degree in Photography at the Glasgow School of Arts. Focusing on themes such as transience and indeterminacy, A. Peitersens work is a meditation on moments, a still and thoughtful reflection on worn times. www.instagram.com/alexanderarnildpeitersen

IGOR PISUK, was born 1984 in Bielsko-Biala, Poland, ad graduated with a Master Degree in photography, at the Film School in Lodz, Poland. Now live in Stockholm where he working on a long term documentary series with title Deceitful Reverence. He is a finalist of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award and winner Warsaw Photo Days. His work has appered in numerous festivals, books and magazines. Some of the photos from Deceitful Reverence series has been published in the MONO Vol.2 by the Gomma Books. Recived a KU project grant from The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2015), 3rd place in GOMMA grant (2016), AIR Independent scholarship (2015). Took part in residency/masterclass with Antoine D'Agata, Jacob Aue Sobol, Trine Søndergaard in Silkeborg, Danemark (2015). www.instagram.com/igorpisuk

JANNIS TOEDHEIM, was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on 1984. He is educated at Berghs School of Photography in 2012, Stockholm, Sweden and graduated at Fatamorgana, Copenhagen (Denmark) later in 2014 with the series "Stockholm Love Stories". He usually works both digital and analogue and moves in the borderland between personal documenty photography and artistic photography. What pervades Tordheims works is a sadness, a longing and the constant search for answers to the questions about who we are. Since 2012, he has participated in various group exhibitions in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Greece and Italy. His work has been published in Positive-Magazine, Prism Magazine and Why The Morning Never Comes. Since 2016 Tordheim is chief editor of the photoblog ”View f.8” which focuses on Scandinavian photography. www.instagram.com/jannistordheim

LILY ZOIMPOULI, was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 1994. Started doing photography seminars with the photographic team Stereosis(2010-12). Attended two series of seminars with photographer Stratos Kalafatis on Studio Tessera(2012). On 2011 she had a solo exhibition on MIET’s library displaying the work that got published by Agra publisher. Took part in two workshops with photographers Jacob Aue Sobol (2012) and Anders Petersen(2014). Her work is being published in a variety of magazines and websites. Today she is studying Fine Art, Print & Time Based Media Course on the University of The Arts London (UAL) Wimbledon College. She has taken part in many group exhibitions both in Greece and out broad. Exhibited in Casa Bianca,Thessaloniki Greece and Delmar Gallery Australia, group exhibition entitled “Home” 2015. On 2015 she took part in the Young Greek Photographers exhibition at The Benaki Museum as part of the Athens Photo Festival. She got an offered from the Lens Culture a space in their website where she publishes a portfolio of her work. On 2016 she was first on the list of an article entitled “Favorite Conceptual and Fine Art Photo Series from 2015” Selection by the Editors of LensCulture. On February 2016 her work was exhibited as part of the group exhibition of Greek and Turkish Photographers entitled "Environmental’ s Fertile" as part of the Balkan Photography Fest. The works were exhibited both in Greece and Turkey. On October 2016 her work will be published in a zine form created by the upcoming Art Space entitled “Void” in Athens, Greece.
